Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Do I need to know Arabic?

No. We start from where you are, including the letters and sounds. Lessons use Arabic with English to clarify when it helps.

What do I need for a lesson?

A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, internet, and a quiet place. A Quran (mushaf) is helpful.

What happens in the intro call?

A short 15-minute video call to meet, hear your goals and check your level. It is free and there is no obligation.

Lessons

How long is a lesson?

Usually 30 minutes for children and 45 to 60 minutes for adults. We agree this together.

How often do we meet?

Once, twice or three times a week, at times you choose. Frequent short lessons work best for memorisation.

What if I need to reschedule?

Please tell us at least 12 hours before and we will find another time.

Is it one-to-one?

Yes. Siblings can share a lesson if you prefer.

Children

Can my child learn with you?

Yes. A parent or guardian should be present, or within earshot, during the lesson, and we keep lessons kind and short.

Payments

How do I pay?

By PayPal, after your plan is agreed. There is no payment before the intro call.

Timezones

I live in another country. Can we still meet?

Yes. Times are shown in your own timezone. Our tutor is in Cairo and often teaches in the early morning and at night, which suits the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Daylight saving changed. What happens to my lesson?

Your lesson stays at the same time on your clock. If it no longer suits your tutor, we contact you before anything changes.

Privacy

What do you do with my data?

We only keep what is needed to arrange your lessons. See the Privacy page. Lessons are not recorded unless you agree.
