Terms
Last updated: 12 October 2026
About these terms
These terms apply when you ask for an intro call or lessons on this website. The agreement is between you (or, for a child, the parent or legal guardian who books) and Abdulhameed Assaad, a sole-trader tutor in Cairo, Egypt (“we”). Booking must be made by an adult. By sending a request you accept these terms, together with our Privacy, Safeguarding and Cancellation pages. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away the rights you have under the law of your country.
The lessons
Lessons are one-to-one live video calls on our own video link (for example Google Meet or Zoom), in Arabic with English support when needed. They cover Quran reading and recitation, tajweed, memorisation and Arabic for non-Arabic speakers, at the length you choose (30, 45 or 60 minutes). At present we teach men and children. A parent or guardian must be present or nearby during a child’s lesson, as described on the Safeguarding page.
Requests and approval
Everything you send on this website is a request. It becomes a booking only when we confirm it by email. We hold the times you picked for up to 48 hours; if we cannot confirm in that time, or we decline, the request ends, the times are released and we tell you. Weekly lessons are booked after the free intro call, using the private link we send you, and are for a block of weekly lessons (usually four weeks) at the same time on your clock each week. We may suggest other times instead.
The intro call
The intro call is free, about 15 minutes, and without obligation on either side. It lets us meet, hear your goals and level, and decide together whether lessons are a good fit. For a child, the parent or guardian should attend.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown on the Packages page and confirmed to you before you pay. You pay by PayPal using the link in your confirmation email, before the first lesson of each block unless we agree otherwise in writing. We never see your card details. PayPal’s own terms and any currency-conversion charges apply. Payment is only for lessons; the intro call is free.
Cancelling and changing lessons
Our Cancellation page explains the 12-hour notice period, late cancellations, and what happens if we have to cancel.
Right to cancel for consumers
If you live in the UK or the EU and buy a paid block of lessons, you have 14 days from the day you buy to change your mind without giving a reason, and we will refund you. If you ask us to start the lessons within those 14 days, you pay for the lessons already given, and we refund the rest. Consumers elsewhere keep any similar rights their own law gives them. To use this right, contact us and say so clearly.
What we do not promise
We teach with care and to the best of our ability, but we cannot promise results. How fast you or your child learns, memorises or reads depends on practice, age, time and many other things. We do not promise any grade, level, test result, completion date or place in any programme. Lessons do not lead automatically to an ijazah, sanad, certificate or any other qualification, and none is offered unless we expressly agree it in writing after you have shown the required level. The lessons are teaching, not religious rulings (fatwa). If you follow a particular recitation (riwaya) or school, tell us at the intro call so we can say honestly whether we can help.
How we expect everyone to behave
We ask for respect and good manners from everyone. Please join from a quiet place, on time, and dressed modestly. Do not share your lesson link with anyone. We may pause or end a lesson that is not conducted respectfully, or if a child is without an adult nearby; the lesson then counts as given unless it was our fault.
Recording
We do not record lessons. A lesson may be recorded only if we and the student, and for a child the parent or guardian in writing (an email is enough), have all agreed beforehand, and the purpose, for example revision, is stated. A recording is kept privately, never shared or published, and deleted within 30 days or earlier on request. Please do not record, screenshot or photograph a lesson without that agreement.
Our responsibility
We will teach with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for loss that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this agreement or of our negligence. We do not limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for problems outside our control such as internet, power, video-call or PayPal failures, but we will offer you another time if a lesson is lost for that reason. Consumer guarantees under your local law, such as the Australian Consumer Law, are not affected.
If something goes wrong
Please tell us first through the Contact page, and we will try to put it right within 30 days. Egyptian law governs these terms, and the courts of Cairo can hear a dispute. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and any right you have to bring a claim in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Changes apply to bookings made after the update, and we will tell you by email before a change affects lessons you have already booked.
